Our concert will include:

Marc O’Reilly

His roots may lie in Waterford and France, but his sound rests somewhere between the American-influenced folk blues of Peter Green and contemporaries such as Ray LaMontagne and Gomez.
Following stints in different alt/rock bands, Marc began to make his mark in 2010 as a solo performer, playing at last summer’s Electric Picnic festival and supporting fellow Irish songwriters including David Kitt.

Stuart Thornley: Stuey and the Blues Machine

Born and raised in Stockport, Stuey first developed a profound interest in music and playing the guitar from the age of 11 as a result of listening to his uncle playing Apache on his Fender Stratocaster. Stuey has a hearing impairment in both ears and has had this since birth.

As a musician who's deaf, Stuey has been met with doubt throughout his life. He hasn't been put off by others negative opinions however. Instead he's been inspired to prove the doubters wrong.

Bhangracise Team: Rajeev Gupta

Originating in the 14th century from the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan, bhangra began as a folk dance performed by farmers to celebrate the beginning of spring and the birth of the new harvest. Over the years, the traditional music has fused with contemporary styles such as hip hop, house and reggae to form an integral part of Asian pop culture today.

Bhangracise instructor and performer Rajeev Gupta performed in the London Olympics 2012 opening ceremony and taught Nick Jones for the 2017 Strictly Come Dancing series.

Liv May

Liv May is a 17 year-old singer-songwriter from Stockport. She grew up listening to an eclectic mix of musical influences, from Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday to the sounds of Rex Orange County and Mac DeMarco. Liv May creates a timeless sound that is reminiscent of the classical blues tradition of the 1920's and the folk-pop movement of the 1960's.

She is currently working with producer and pianist Andrew Jones who has helped her develop her sound and musical style. Having already released the bright folk-pop song ‘On the Coast’ she is now looking forward to releasing more new music throughout 2019.

Hiding Magpies

The Hiding Magpies are an Americana, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, country band, based in the North West. Their debut album ‘The Hiding Magpies’ covers all aspects of love, loss and heartache, with a slight nod to songwriters such as Tom Petty, Ryan Adams and The Byrds.
