Cellar tour of the Queens
Saturday 21 September 2019 12:00 - 12:20
Date and time
The Queens, or 'Turner's Vaults' as it is sometimes referred to, is a much prized Stockport hostelry dating back to at least the 1790's.
It still maintains its 3 room layout with a narrow front bar, a small snug in the middle and a quieter room at the back. The pub is extremely narrow and shows how many small urban pubs must have looked a 100 years ago.
It’s a Samuel Smith pub, so expect to see the single cask ale in 18 gallon wooden barrels. Hopefully, the now disused gents toilet, the smallest in town by a long way, will be open for a viewing.
You must turn off your mobile phone in the pub.
All cellar tours are at your own risk and involve climbing stairs and some low ceilings. Although the lighting is mostly good, you may wish to bring a torch and wear sturdy footwear.
