A celebration of hats in the home of hatting

Talks, tours, a millinery showcase and a marketplace will shine a light on Stockport’s hatting heritage and raise awareness of Brain Tumour Research in the lead up to ‘Wear A Hat’ Day.

The 25th of March 2017 is a big day for Stockport as the first ever HATstock takes place at Hat Works Museum of Hatting.

People are travelling from near and far for this rare opportunity to get up close to contemporary hats and meet the milliners who have made them.

On the day there will be:

  • short talks - a diverse range of speakers to interest hat, fashion and social history enthusiasts
  • millinery showcase - exhibition of hats and meet the milliners who have created them
  • taster tours - a slice of Stockport’s hatting history with guided tours of the museum’s machinery floor
  • Parkin Fabrics Road Show - to purchase millinery supplies

A diverse programme of talks will cover the social history of the hat, ethical sourcing of materials and the challenges and joys of life as a milliner.
