Foodie Friday is a truly unique social event for Stockport town centre creating a continental-style, street-cafe culture that appeals to all ages and gives families a relaxed and enjoyable night out with their children.
Foodie Friday takes place in and around the iconic, Grade II listed, Victorian Market Hall dating back to 1861.
The covered market hall was originally an open-sided building with a glazed roof which is why it became known as ‘The Glass Umbrella’.
The indoor market traders are an important part of Foodie Friday offering good quality traditional home-cooked food, a wide range of craft ales, wines and spirits, speciality cheeses, sweets and ice cream.
The special atmosphere in the Market Hall is created by a wide variety of entertainment featuring acoustic singer-songwriters, bands, community singing groups including Foodie Friday favourites Stockport Ukulele Players as well as classic karaoke.
Foodie Friday visitors can also continue their evening’s entertainment in the popular food and drink venues located in the Market Square and surrounding area, all with their own individual atmosphere.
Sample the delights of The Baker’s Vaults, The Boar’s Head, Remedy Bar and Brewhouse, The Cocked Hat, The Arden Arms and Seven Miles Out who manage Foodie Friday and have live music performances throughout the evening.
Foodie Friday is a great opportunity to meet up with family and friends or wind down with work colleagues. Come and be part of our growing community in Stockport Old Town.
