Description

This exhibition has come straight from London and demonstrates the breadth and diversity of calligraphy and lettering as a modern art form.

Included are:

  • artists' books
  • etched glass and metal panels
  • textile hangings
  • carved wood and stone
  • traditional work on paper and vellum

Styles range from intricately painted and gilded pieces to bold, expressive mark-making.

More than 60 contemporary calligraphers and lettering artists have produced an impressive display of work to celebrate the Society of Scribes and Illuminators' centenary.
