Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy
Monday 29 July 2019 09:30 - 16:30
Date and time
AFCA is for boys and girls aged between 5 to 16 years old. Whether it’s your first experiences of cricket or you're a representative player, you'll have fun, improve and be challenged.
The Freddie Juniors - 5 to 7 years old - have their own programme which establishes the fundamentals of cricket and sport in general. We understand the different needs of this age range and this is reflected in the curriculum which has shorter sessions, cricket related skills in a wider context and the need for high and lower intensity activities. In addition the programme will incorporate more multi faceted activities in the afternoon sessions, these may include arts and crafts, as well as more multi activity games and play sessions.
Our Freddie Seniors - 8 to 16 years old - work in age appropriate groups and enjoy learning new skills in all cricketing disciplines of batting, bowling and fielding. Our themed sessions encourage a focus on achievement with plenty of opportunities to put skills into action through small-sided games and middle practices.
The Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy Coaching Programme has been designed with input from Freddie himself, as well as ECB Level 4 and National Development Coaches alongside childcare professionals.
Every day the camp will take part in batting, bowling and fielding technical sessions, delivered in fun, engaging and challenging methods. Our afternoons are tactical and game-play based sessions including middle practices, net scenarios, TGFUs (Teaching Games for Understanding) and small sided matches. Each group's curriculum is age/ability related and players may be moved to different groups to be challenged appropriately.
