Emergency planning

2. Business continuity

Business continuity is the process of creating a system to deal with potential threats to your business.

A Business Continuity Plan (BCP) should record how you’ll respond to an emergency or a disruption.

Your planning should focus on the outcomes of the disruption and not its cause.

Things to consider are loss of:

  • key staff
  • IT – technology, equipment
  • providers and suppliers
  • power
  • other key requirements to your service

It's important that you update your process on a regular basis, to make sure that you record all of your significant business changes.
