In 2011, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) established the Civil Contingencies and Resilience Unit (CCRU). Their aim, to lead the delivery of civil contingency services for the 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester. The CCRU provides emergency planning on our behalf.
The government places statutory obligations on all local authorities and other agencies to make sure that the UK is prepared for the impact of a disaster. You can find out about the responsibilities of Category 1 and Category 2 responders to civil emergencies in The Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
