Choosing an early years setting, school or college
When an Education, Health and Care needs assessment has been completed and it has been agreed that a draft Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or an amendment to an existing plan will be issued, we'll ask you to give your preference for the early years setting, school, college or other institution you'd like to be named in the final EHCP.
You have a right to request any of the following types of school or college:
- a maintained nursery school
- a maintained school and any form of academy or free school (mainstream or special)
- a non-maintained special school
- a further education or sixth form college
- an independent school or independent specialist college that has been approved for this purpose by the Secretary of State and published in a list available to all parents and young people
