One Stockport Economic Plan

The One Stockport Economic Plan was launched in 2022, setting out a shared vision for the borough’s economy from 2022 to 2030, providing a clear framework for inclusive growth, innovation and resilience.

Central to the economic plan is a strong partnership approach, ensuring all partners are working towards shared goals, and making collaborative decisions.

The plan’s mission is to:

“Grow Stockport’s local economy to create and support successful businesses that are stronger, resilient and productive, creating quality jobs that are better paid, sustainable and accessible for the benefit of all our residents.”

The plan identifies four priorities through which targeted actions and associated measures of performance are defined and monitored. They are:

  • Enterprising and productive
  • Fair and inclusive
  • Climate friendly and resilient
  • Accessible and connected

Each priority has a series of long-term aspirations, driving change for Stockport up to and beyond 20230, and a series of short-term actions, forming a delivery plan. In 2025, the second delivery plan was launched, ensuring progress continues within the context of an ever-changing economic, social and political environment.
