About the team

The Stockport Early Years Improvement Team consists of:

  • Childminding Improvement Officers who are experienced early years professionals. They support both new and established childminders to continuously improve their practice in delivering the EYFS in their home based setting
  • Early Years Improvement Consultants who are qualified teachers with headship or senior leadership experience. They support the continuous improvement in the EYFS in maintained schools with nursery and reception classes and PVI providers in receipt of the early education funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds
  • an Early Years Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Consultant and SEND Improvement Officers who are involved with children from birth to the end of their nursery year. The focus and aim of their work are to improve outcomes for children with SEND, in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) by developing the capacity of settings, nursery classes, nursery schools and childminders to meet the needs of children with emerging or identified SEND
