Discretionary and hardship payments for Council Tax

Discretionary and hardship payments may be paid to your Council Tax account if you're struggling to pay and you've taken all reasonable steps to resolve your financial difficulties.

You may be able to get a discretionary payment if you've claimed Council Tax Support and you've been affected by a restriction in our local scheme. For example:
- your Council Tax Support cannot be backdated
- we've capped the band used to work out your Council Tax Support
