We may be able to put your home in a lower Council Tax band if you, or someone who lives with you, is substantially and permanently disabled. For example; if your property is in band E, your bill will be reduced to band D.
If your property is in band A, the lowest Council Tax band, a reduction is still available.
You may be able to get a reduction if the property has these certain features:
- a room other than a bathroom, kitchen or toilet which the person with a disability uses and needs
- an extra bathroom or kitchen needed for the person with a disability
- the person with a disability needs to use a wheelchair in the property and there is enough floor space to allow for this
The use of the room must be essential, or of major importance, because of the nature and extent of the disability.
Your entitlement will be reviewed regularly.
