Stockport SENDIASS offers free, confidential, and impartial support to parents, carers, and young people aged 0 to 25 with or who may have SEND. Young people can access the service on their own, or with the support of their parents.
SENDIASS empowers families and young people by listening, gathering information, and offering guidance to achieve the best outcomes. Support from our service can take place over the phone, by video call, email, and support at some meetings. Requests for attendance at meetings, mediations and tribunals must be received at least 2 weeks before the meeting date. This is subject to our availability and may be reduced in busy periods.
We offer advice about:
- gathering, understanding, and interpreting information and applying it to your own situation
- signposting to other services for information, advice, and support
- what to do when things go wrong
- how to get the best from a meeting
We offer support with:
- preparing for and attending meetings
- writing letters and understanding reports
- the EHC Plan process and annual reviews
- admissions and exclusions
- post 16 provision
- working in partnership with schools and the local authority to develop positive relationships
- complaints, mediation and disagreement resolution meetings and appeals to the SEND Tribunal Service
- SEND: Specific
