Stockport Writers

About us

Stockport Writers was formed in 2011. We meet at Stockport Museum in the Market Place, 11-1, on the second Sunday of the month (apart from November, when we meet on the third Sunday).

It is FREE to attend. We run the meetings as workshops with writing prompts. All you need is something with which to write: pen and paper, tablet, laptop - whatever your preferred writing tool/s.

To keep things fresh, we take turns running the sessions, but that is on a voluntary basis: some members chair several times a year; others have never chaired. Similarly, when we share our writing, that is also on a voluntary basis; there is never any pressure to participate.

The aim of the group is to encourage writers, not scare them off. We do not provide refreshments but you are free to bring your own. The group is relaxed and informal, and we always welcome new members.

There are no sign-up or formal attendance requirements; simply join us when you can. We do not have a website, just a Facebook page, but that is open to public view; no need to be on Facebook yourself. Simply Google ‘Stockport Writers’ or hit this link: https://www.facebook.com/stockportwriters/

All relevant and up-to-date information is available there, but feel free to email if you have any more questions. If you want to try us out, simply ask at reception and they will direct you to our meeting room. We are on the third floor but there is a lift available.
