About us
The Friends of Etherow Country Park were formed in 2000 with the aim of conserving the natural assets of the park, to create the right conditions for the growth of flora and fauna, to encourage personal involvement and to promote a friendly social group committed to protecting the local environment.
We liaise with other similar Stockport voluntary groups, Compstall Community Council and Stockport local Authority Provide extra help to the warden when required.
We meet every Wednesday and work until 12 noon. We then meet up for a drink, biscuits and a chat. There is no pressure to attend every week, we work when it suits us.
Anyone over 18 is welcome! Activities include: Use of none motorised tools for general maintenance tasks (shovel, spades, hoe, rake, loppers, saws etc), litter picking, making bird boxes, minor wall repairs, balsam removal, footpath repairs, planting scrubs, bulbs and scrubs, volunteer guided walks, water testing, maintaining the two gardens in the park, manual digging, painting where agreed and subject to COSHH assessment and notice board maintenance.
