From Monday 12 May 2025

Central Library in Stockport town centre is temporarily closed for a short period while we carry out essential maintenance and improvement works. This work is vital to protect and preserve the building for the future.

• You can continue to borrow, reserve, and collect books, and use public PCs for free, at Stockport Council's reception at Stopford House (SK1 3XE).

• Visit any of our nearby libraries, including Brinnington, Edgeley, and Great Moor, which all offer a full range of services

• You can access thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, and magazines 24/7 via the free BorrowBox app.

Stockport Libraries services are free to all, regardless of where you live.

From Saturday 24 May 2025

When Stockroom opens on 24 May, you’ll find:

• an additional town centre library
• a children’s creative learning space
• a friendly café bar
• Stockport’s historical archives, brought to life in a vibrant new setting

• ask staff to help you make an appointment with Citizens Advice
