Types of payment

We can pay your Direct Payment in any of the following ways:

  • into a separate bank account set up by you for this purpose. A lot of people find that this makes it easier to keep a track of things
  • into your personal bank account
  • onto a pre-payment card, this is not suitable if you are employing a PA
  • to a managed account provider, who can help you to manage the budget if you do not wish to do this yourself

Advantages of managing Direct Payments yourself

  • all of the choice and control
  • you can directly employ the staff that you choose
  • you'll manage the Direct Payment budget yourself

You have to be confident with money and paperwork if you manage the direct payment yourself. You must send bank statements, receipts and invoices to us when we ask you to.

Advantages of a managed account Direct Payment

  • all of the choice and control of a self-managed Direct Payment
  • you can directly employ the staff that you choose
  • all payments are made to a managed account provider who'll help you spend your funding and will support you to send information to the Direct Payment audit team, for example, receipts.
