Trans Pennine Trail
The Trans Pennine Trail is a multi user route crossing the country from Liverpool to Hull and beyond.
7 miles of the route goes through Stockport:
- entering the borough via the Tame Valley in Reddish Vale Country Park
- passing through Stockport town centre
- leaving the borough via the Mersey Valley at Parrs Wood
Cyclists: know your responsibilities
Before you visit the trail, read the Trans Pennine Trail user code for cyclists.

Diversion
With the ongoing 1 billion pound regeneration of the town centre, the Trans Pennine Trail route along the A560 Chestergate and through the town is subject to a diversion between NCN62 and M60 Junction 1 and Tiviot Dale. Signs are in place to guide Trans Pennine Trail users along the diversion.
The diversion is made up of the riverside path between NCN62 and Heaton Lane. We've cut back the vegetation along the riverside path to make sure it's suitable for increased use.
