City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) fund
We're proposing to create 2 active travel schemes that would be paid for by the Government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) fund. This is a national investment fund for local transport networks that aims to improve access for local businesses and organisations, and help residents get to amenities in their communities.
The schemes are:
- on Hempshaw Lane in Offerton
- connecting Woodley and the Bredbury Industrial Estate
In 2023, we submitted the full business cases for the Hempshaw Lane and Woodley to Bredbury Parkway schemes.
The Hempshaw Lane scheme will deliver an improvement to the bus user experience, through more accessible bus stops and a better journey experience and introduce high-quality pedestrian infrastructure to help support an increase in walking journeys.
Woodley to Bredbury Parkway Improvements will upgrade current sustainable travel infrastructure within the Woodley neighbourhood including the existing Public Right of Way to Bredbury Industrial Estate, to help support an increase in local walking and cycling journeys and boost connectivity to Woodley precinct.
At the end of June 2024, funding was confirmed for the delivery of the Hempshaw Lane and Woodley to Bredbury schemes, and we are now in discussions with our contractor about programming their delivery.
