About the project

The Stockport Council COVID-19 Community Commemoration Fund was set up to help our communities mark, commemorate and reflect on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic was an extremely difficult time for many of our residents, both in terms of the illness itself and the associated restrictions.

It was also a time when communities, community groups and residents worked together in an unprecedented way to support one another through the challenges we all faced.

Since 2022 we've been working with local community groups around the borough to find local ways to remember this period of our history. We've supported these groups to bring their ideas to completion and there are now a wide variety of memorials across the borough. Some have been completed and some are still in progress. As projects are completed, they will be added to the website.
