Covent Garden Village

The redevelopment of Covent Garden Village has completed, in partnership between the council and Your Housing Group.

The site, part of which lies within a conservation area, was formerly occupied by:

  • council owned flats, which were no longer fit for purpose
  • an old mill, which had previously burnt down
  • vacant commercial premises

The development now consists of 74 homes including:

  • 27 two and three bedroom houses
  • 4 apartment blocks, with 47 one and two bedroom apartments

You can find more information on the
Covent Garden site plan (PDF 698Kb)

This is a mixed tenure scheme with:

  • 18 properties for market sale
  • 5 for shared ownership
  • 51 for private rent which will be managed by Your Housing’s, Nuvu Living brand

The development was completed in Summer 2020.

Hopes Carr Phase 3

The development of Hopes Carr is being undertaken in partnership between us, Stockport Homes Ltd and Seddon Construction Ltd.

A planning application for the construction of 14 dwellings along Orchard Street has been approved. There will be 12 houses and 2 apartments, one of which is fully wheelchair accessible. All of them are affordable housing units with 12 houses for shared ownership and 2 apartments for affordable rent.

The scheme has received Housing Infrastructure Fund Marginal Viability grant support from the Government, via Homes England. This is to assist with the extra costs of stabilising the slope towards Hempshaw Brook.

The slope works are now complete. The housing element is under construction and due to complete by spring 2023.
