4. Receiving help

Top tips to think about when someone offers you help:

Do:

  • seek help if you think you need it – we have a list of useful numbers
  • let someone know if you're self isolating alone or in a couple – call Healthwatch Stockport on 0161 974 0753, they can put you in touch with checked and trusted staff and volunteers in your area
  • call a trusted known organisation such as Stockport Council for extra help – we can put you in touch with checked and trust staff and volunteers in your area
  • appreciate people are trying to help, but be aware and double check any information you're not sure about
  • call Healthwatch Stockport on 0161 974 0753 or Age UK on 0161 477 1213 for up to date health and social care information
  • if you feel ill you should call 111 or visit NHS 111 online

Do not:

  • provide your bank details to someone you do not know
  • give your bank card and pin number to someone you do not know
  • provide anyone with a signed blank cheque
  • try and cope alone – we all need help
  • feel that you have to accept a strangers help
