Stockport recognises the need to provide flexible workspace in which new and young businesses can grow and flourish.

Serviced offices, managed workspace, innovation space and co-working centres are all available, offering flexible inclusive terms and conditions, and supportive collaborative environments in which to develop.

In addition to privately-owned business spaces, Stockport Council is responsible for:

• Merseyway Innovation Centre
• Stockport Business & Innovation Centre
• Merchants House

These workspaces are managed on the council’s behalf by Oxford Innovation Ltd under the Innovate Stockport brand.

Merseyway Innovation Centre

Located in the heart of Stockport town centre, Merseyway Innovation Centre provides a range of flexible, high quality office and meeting spaces for small and micro businesses. These include:

• co-working spaces
• shared offices
• individual offices, ranging from 100 to 570 square feet
• business lounge and meeting rooms

The centre is home to an engaged community, and offers a calendar of events and networking opportunities to encourage innovation, collaboration and growth.

Businesses also have access the centre’s Innovation Director, who can provide strategic coaching and support.

Merseyway Innovation Centre opened in 2023 and was developed thanks to funding from:

• EU’s European Regional Development Fund through Northern Powerhouse
• Stockport Council
• Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Cultural Development Fund managed by Arts Council England

Stockport Business & Innovation Centre (SBIC)

SBIC is located on the third floor of Broadstone Mill, an iconic former cotton spinning mill in Stockport with excellent links to Stockport town centre, the M60 motorway and Manchester Airport and beyond.

The centre hosts over 50 small businesses, all of which have access to on site business support, meeting rooms, free parking and a shared business lounge.

Merchants House offices

Located in Stockport’s historic market square, Merchants House is ideally located for all town centre amenities. The characteristic, red-brick building has 10 small managed workspace offices available on flexible terms. Merchants House is extremely accessible, being only 10 minutes from Stockport station, and close to both the A6 and M60. The centre is also fully equipped with broadband infrastructure.
