What co-production is

In Stockport, our vision is for all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to have the best start in life. We want all children and young people to be happy, prepared for adulthood and able to achieve their goals. We want families to feel supported, confident, resilient and connected to their community. We can only do this well if we understand the lived experience of people with additional needs and/or disabilities and their families.

We're committed to working in partnership with people who understand what it's like to have special educational needs and disabilities, including the parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. We know that the people who live in Stockport and use local services know best about what they need.

We work together with families in a number of different ways to shape services that are inclusive and make a difference. The people we work with include:

• parent carers
• young people
• voluntary and community organisations
• professionals from health, social care and education
