Our co-production charter
Our co-production charter was created in 2019 by young people with additional needs and disabilities, parent carers, health professionals, and voluntary and community organisations. The charter sets out our way of working together across Stockport. It has been designed to help everyone, whether you're new to co-production, or have years of experience.
The charter states that, together, we're building a culture where we'll:
- be open and honest
- listen actively
- value the lived experiences
- do what matters
- be accountable and respond to feedback
- work together as partners
- be respectful
There were over 1000 people involved in creating this charter and the good work that went into developing the charter has also been used to inform our Stockport Participation Strategy.
Co-production can include:
- being a member of Stockport boards and meetings
- being involved in community sessions and events
- completing surveys or joining a focus group
- designing and delivering training
- sharing your lived experience to improve services
- helping to check the quality of services being delivered
Watch our video to find out more about what co-production means and how we’re working together with communities and families.
If you feel that professionals are not working in line with the values of the co-production charter, then please speak directly to them or someone in their team. All professionals should be committed to this way of working.
Co-production charter review
The co-production charter was created 6 years ago and we want to check that it's still relevant and making a difference to families.
That’s why we’re planning a series of community engagement events with children, young people and parent carers and would love to hear your views. We’ll be sharing updates and ways to get involved through local community groups and via our Facebook page.
We’re also working with Parents and Carers Together Stockport (PACTS), parent carers and professionals to review and update our co-production charter. Our aim is to make sure that everyone feels supported and committed to working in this way.
