Cheadle Eco Business Park
Bird Hall Lane has been identified for several years as a strategic redevelopment opportunity. The site is underused, has dated property infrastructure, and is poorly and inefficiently configured. It presents a great opportunity to redevelop to provide new employment space and support clean growth. The site is roughly 7 acres, providing around 100,000 square feet of industrial space.
Using investment from the Town Fund Investment Plan, work has progressed towards delivering a Eco Business Park on Bird Hall Lane. The project aligns with clean economic growth objectives, creating new employment opportunities on an under used brownfield land. The high environmental performance and the use of green technology aligns with our Climate Action Now objectives.
Following detailed design work, a planning application was prepared and received planning consent in June 2024. The site has been occupied by various council elements which have now been relocated, meaning that vacant possession of the site has been secured. Final build costs are being determined at present, and it is anticipated that construction of Cheadle Eco Business Park will start later this year.
The scheme will be market-leading in terms of the environmental credentials. This will include targeting outstanding or excellent BREEAM ratings, to minimise carbon in both the build and in the operation of the scheme to low/net zero levels and with on-site renewable energy generation.
