Bulky items and waste
Last updated 18 December 2019
1. Where to take bulky items
If you illegally dump any of your bulky items, you could face a fixed penalty notice or fine. You have a legal duty of care to make sure your household waste is disposed of correctly. To find information about fly tipping visit the Recycle for Greater Manchester website.
The following charitable organisations may be willing to accept furniture and electrical items:
Stockport Homes Furniture Recycling Service
Stockport Homes has a furniture recycling project which helps those in need when moving into a new house or property. The service relies on unwanted furniture in good condition and electrical white good donations. We can collect good quality donations but please be aware that all soft furnishings need to comply with 1988 safety regulations - most armchairs and sofas have a label at the bottom.
Please note: this is not a waste removal service. Also, we do not accept mattresses.
If you have any furniture that you wish to donate, please contact the service.
