Bookstart

1. Overview

Bookstart is a national free book-gifting scheme. The scheme aims to encourage mums, dads and carers to get babies and pre-school children into books early.

Bookstart aims to give books to every baby in the UK. It also aims to inspire and create a love of reading that will give children a flying start in life. Children are never too young to start loving books.

All babies and toddlers are entitled to two free Bookstart packs before they start school.

Babies can join the library from the day they're born. The library offers lots of activities for you and your child to take part in.
