2. Autism training
We provide a range of free e-learning and classroom based autism training. The training is available to anyone who either works or lives in Stockport.
It is particularly relevant for people who work with those who are affected by autism.
The classroom based training has been designed, developed and is co-delivered with adults with autism and/or family members. Stockport Council also works in collaboration with Greater Manchester Autism Consortium.
To book a face-to-face autism course, or an autism e-learning course on your computer, create a username and password:
- go to http://stockport.learningpool.com/
- click the link for Support & Login Options
- click the link for New Account to get a form
- on the form,
a. choose your own username and password.
b. use your work email address if you have one. If you don't you need to use one that you can use to receive an email.
c. give your name where prompted
d. for payroll number, non-council staff can use anything unique.
e. Where prompted who you work for, give the name of your business or what you do for the council.
- click the Create My New Account button.
- check your email. You should receive one containing a link that you should click to confirm you are who you claim to be. If you don’t get one, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

This basic awareness e-learning course introduces you to autism and its key characteristics.
Autism - working with people with Autism
This e-learning course will help develop the knowledge and skills you need if you work with people who have autism.
Autism Awareness Classroom Course
This 1 day face-to-face training course expands on the content of our autism e-learning. It offers delegates a chance to engage in discussions and group work around the subject. Find out when they’re on and book a place.
Autism – Equality and Diversity
This 1 day classroom course is aimed at professionals in a customer focused role who may come into contact with an adult who has autism. Find out when they’re on and book a place.

This 1 day classroom course is aimed at professionals who will complete care assessments. Find out when they’re on and book a place.
Autism - Mental Health Assessors
This 1 day classroom course is aimed at mental health practitioners. It will focus on the appropriate legislation and research linked to supporting people with autism through assessments. Find out when they’re on and book a place.
Autism - Train the Trainer
This 2 day course is intended to equip people to deliver training on autism Awareness to their peers, colleagues or the public within Stockport. Find out when they’re on and book a place.

Bespoke training can be provided for agencies and organisations who have specific requirements.
