Allotments

Allotments can be very rewarding, providing you with your own delicious, homegrown fruit, vegetables and flowers. All at a fraction of the cost of shop prices.

There's also the social side as you meet new people with similar interests. In addition you can enjoy a healthy outdoor activity with the benefits of exercise and a place to unwind.

We have over 30 sites, with sizes ranging from just 2 plots to over 90. Most plots are 300 sq yards, however, many people choose to work half a plot if this is more suited to their time and needs.

The majority of our sites are run by allotment organisations.

Registering your interest

Most allotment sites have a waiting list, and you'll need to register your interest to be added to the list. When your name comes to the top of the list, you'll be invited to visit the site to view the plot and meet with a representative from the Allotment Association before it can be let to you.

You'll be given access instructions, either a key or code, when you sign the tenancy agreement. Allotment gardening requires a regular commitment of several hours each week in order to maintain a plot.

The Allotment Association may give you a probationary period to get your new plot into cultivation. You'll receive further information when you attend to view the available plot.
