Admissions appeals: summer 2025

The deadlines to submit an appeal for any school that your child has been refused admission to are:

  • Secondary schools: 28 March 2025 before midnight
  • Primary schools: 16 May 2025 before midnight

This includes any late applications for primary and secondary appeals.

After you have submitted your appeal form:

  1. Your application will be acknowledged by our automated response service and you'll be contacted as soon as is reasonably practical.

  2. You'll then be sent an invitation letter with a minimum of 14 calendar days’ notice of your appeal hearing date.

  3. You'll be sent a copy of your appeal pack with a minimum of 7 calendar days’ notice of your appeal hearing date.

  4. You'll be contacted by phone or email within 1 to 2 days of your appeal hearing date, to confirm you have received your appeal pack and will be attending your appeal hearing.

The dates listed below are for appeals for places in Year 7 or Reception in September 2025.

Secondary schools

Please note: the dates below may be subject to change.

  • Monday 3 March 2025: offer date for Year 7 places
  • Friday 28 March 2025: before midnight: deadline for receipt of appeals form

Appeal panels will then meet:

  • week starting Tuesday 6 May 2025
  • week starting 12 May 2025
  • week starting 19 May 2025
  • week starting Tuesday 27 May 2025
  • week starting 9 June 2025
  • week starting 16 June 2025

Late appeal applications will be received up to Friday 27 June 2025. Any appeal application submitted after this date will not be allocated a hearing until September 2025.

Primary schools

Please note: the dates below may be subject to change.

  • Wednesday 16 April 2025: offer date for Reception places
  • Friday 16 May 2025 before midnight: deadline for receipt of appeals form

Appeal panels will then meet:

  • week starting 23 June 2025
  • week starting 30 June 2025
  • week starting 7 July 2025

Any appeals not submitted by these deadlines will need to be submitted before midnight on Friday 27 June 2025 to be considered on the week starting 14 July 2025.

Any appeals submitted after Friday 27 June 2025 will not be heard until September 2025.

Please note: if you wish to submit more information to support your appeal then you may do so up to 2 days before the date of appeal.

You'll receive at least 10 school days notice of the date of your appeal. You'll also receive a copy of the Admission Authorities case outlining their reasons for refusal and any other information. You'll receive this before your appeal by email.

The decision of the appeals panel will be communicated to you in writing and sent within 7 calendar days of the conclusion of the appeal hearing for that school.
