About the Armed Forces Covenant
Last updated 11 January 2019
Stockport Council is working with the armed forces to help and support current and former service men and women and their families in the local area.
The Armed Forces Community Covenant 2018 (1.22Mb) recognises and remembers the 'sacrifices made by members of this armed forces community, particularly those who have given the most'. It aims to make accessing support easier for the Armed Forces community and encourage their engagement with the local community. The ambition is for this support to be embedded within pre-existing mainstream services rather than replace them.
The Covenant is facilitated through a joint Steering Group called the Stockport Armed Forces Covenant Partnership made up of representatives from government, charities and the military. It's responsible for co-ordinating and directing the implementation of support to the Armed Forces across Stockport.
If you become aware of someone requiring additional support to access council services, please email email@example.com. We'll send your requests to our champions in the relevant services.
