The doors are now open to our brand new family gallery. It has been designed to help imaginations run wild, it is a space where anything is possible.
In partnership with illustrator Becca Hall, the museum has been reimagined for younger visitors.
Museum Mouse has been created to take people on a gallery adventure to discover favourite objects from the Museum’s collection.
Visitors of all ages will learn about everything from Ancient Egypt, animals and nature to toys and shopping.
In addition to the new gallery, the rather complicated layout of Stockport Museum has been addressed. There is improved signage and a new orientation space, which introduces visitors to the museum and the story of Stockport.
In the galleries, colour has been used to inject life into displays. Stories that were missing from the original displays are now included, for example Strawberry Studios and Sport in Stockport.
