A new 2-lane dual carriageway will be constructed on an east-west route. This will be from the A6 near Hazel Grove via the 4 kilometres of existing A555 to Manchester Airport and the link road to the M56.

This multi million pound investment will bring significant benefits to communities along the route by improving connectivity. Whilst reducing levels of local congestion and ensuring that local employment and business opportunities are within easy reach for all.

Work on the scheme has begun on site and it is anticipated that the road will be open to traffic by late summer 2018.
