The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requires local authorities to identify and maintain a supply of land to build new homes on for at least the next 5 years. We're required to share this information in an annual position statement.
The council previously published a statement setting out the housing land supply position in February 2024. The council has now updated that statement for the most recent monitoring years and taking into account the government’s updates of the NPPF and the standard method for calculating housing need in December 2024. The housing land supply position statement sets out how we have calculated the supply of land within Stockport, the methodology, and assumptions used. It concludes that Stockport has a land supply of 1.77 years.
