Traffic Services is the department responsible for knowing all that happens on Stockport’s highways and is part of the Regeneration, Communities and Environment Directorate.
They are tasked with providing effective and reliable travel by being at the hub of all that is happening, to make sure travel is safe for all, and that access and parking supports shopping and business.
The four Traffic Services Teams are:
- Network Management - Revenue
- Network Management - Capital
- Parking
- Road Safety
Network Management
The two teams tasked with knowing all that is happening on Stockport's highways and developing solutions to improve the network.
Parking
The Parking team is responsible for the management of the Council's car parks as well as the enforcement of parking restrictions
Project Management
Management for the delivery of the Integrated Transport Project.

Road Safety
Stockport Council's Road Safety Team are committed to reduce casualties on Stockport's roads. This is achieved through road safety education, training, publicity and crash investigation. The Road Safety Team is also responsible for the management and operation of the School Crossing Patrol Service.
Stabilising Dan Bank
Stockport has received £3.2m from the Department for Transport for major improvements to 500 metres of the A626 Dan Bank Slope in Marple.
