Basic parking rules for Blue Badge Holders.
- Never stop where your vehicle will cause an obstruction to traffic or pedestrians.
- Never stop on white or yellow zig-zag safety markings.
- Never double park, or park on the corner of a junction.
- Never park on the pavement.
- Never park anywhere where there is a loading ban in place.
- Never park in places reserved for specific users e.g. loading bays, taxi bays, bus or cycle lanes.
Yellow Line Dispensation
A blue badge holder may stop on a yellow line (single or double) for up to three hours except where there is a loading ban in place. A loading ban is shown by yellow ‘stripes’ on the kerb above the yellow lines.
The times of the loading ban are shown on a white sign. Outside of the loading ban times normal blue badge rules apply. The badge holder ID must be displayed clearly in the car and the clock set to indicate the arrival time.
Parking Bays
Blue badge holders have exclusive use of disabled only bays. You may park in on-street bays indefinitely unless there is a maximum time shown on the sign. Blue badge holders who are using pay and display facilities may park for free where other road users would be expected to pay.
Do not park in suspended or reserved bays or in bays set aside for particular users e.g. doctors’ bays, police bays.
Council Car Parks
Blue badge holders can park for free for up to 3 hours in Council owned car parks.
