The Council have height restriction barriers fitted to many of the borough's car parks to prevent their use by goods vehicles, the travelling community and fly tippers.

The barriers are all clearly marked with the height restrictions applicable at the individual car parks, but generally, a 2m restriction applies to all car parks.

Special provision has been made for vehicles that carry wheelchairs at;

  • Churchgate Car Park (2.6m);
  • Great Egerton Street Car Park A (1.90m), and
  • Great Egerton Street Car Park B (2.20m) in the Town Centre.

A number of the Council's parking facilities have achieved Park Mark Safer Parking status.
