Supporting People funds local services to help ensure that vulnerable people have the opportunity to live more independently.
Below are some examples of what Supporting People services can do:
- Provide warden and alarm services in sheltered housing schemes for older people
- Help young people leaving care prepare for greater independence through training in basic skills
- Help men and women escaping from domestic violence
- Support people with mental health problems
- Help people to set up home or adjust to living independently after a stay in hospital, prison or temporary accommodation
- Support people who have drug and/or alcohol problems
Housing support services are provided by lots of different organisations, for example Stockport Homes, Anchor Housing, Stockport Women's Aid or Creative Support. The Supporting People Team is responsible for checking that the services they provide are of a high standard. We do this by talking to the people who use our services to check that they are happy with them and by completing quality checks and regular monitoring.
