Waste Management

Stockport Council ensures the Market is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The Market Operational Staff regularly patrol the Market each Market day to ensure that the Market is a clean and safe environment for all to use.

Brown Refuse Sacks are made available on a daily basis, to all Market traders to dispose of their Market refuse in the wheelie bins located around the Market Place.

All cardboard should be broken down by the trader and taken to the tipper located on Park Street. It is then re-cycled on a weekly basis.

Other recyclable items can be taken to the Adswood Eco Centre. See 'Related Pages' on the right of the page.

The Stockport Council Plan 2009-2012 was published on 1st July, following agreement at the Council Meeting on 25th June of the Council’s priorities over the next three years.  One of the four headline priorities is to be 'A Leading “Green” Borough'.

  • Limiting Stockport’s impact on the environment
  • Reducing the environmental impact of traffic
  • Protecting greenspace

Stockport Market, the Market Team and Stockport’s Market Traders are always thinking of ways in which we can contribute to this priority and to reduce the amount of waste that we can not yet recycle.
