Ridge Quarry Wood

The Woodland

Ridge Quarry is a small area of secondary woodland that has developed on the site of an old quarry. This is quite a sensitive site floristically so care should be taken not to damage the ground flora. The wood is mainly Oak and Birch. The main quarry area is a good area for observing butterflies.

Getting here and accessibility

This woodland can be accessed from The Ridge, a minor road off Hawk Green Road in Marple. Directly south of the wood is a car park and picnic area with excellent views of The Peak District.
