Kirk & Little Wood

The Woodland

Kirk and Little wood are situated within Chadkirk Country Estate. The woodlands are on steep ground but there are several paths linking it with the Goyt Valley.

Kirk Wood has been classes as ancient woodland although the dominant canopy tree is Beech. Sycamore has become dominant is some areas. Some of these trees are being thinned out to improve the diversity of the ground flora by increasing light levels.

Little wood is situated opposite Kirk wood. It has a more open woodland structure and contains more Oak.
