The Woodland

Crookilley Wood is a mature clough woodland. It is bisected by a tributary of the River Goyt. The canopy is dominated by sycamore and oak with ash and alder. The wood is a site of biological importance (SBI) and has been identified as ancient in the Ancient Woodland Inventory. Abundant woodland flowers can be seen in spring and it is good site for observing birds

Getting here and accessibility

Crookilley Wood lies in Lower Bredbury, approximately 3km from Stockport town centre. It extends from the A560 westwards to the M60/A560 Crookilley Way. The northern boundary is a disused railway. There are entrances to the site from The Crescent and Valley Road off Stockport Road West. Take care as some sections of path are steep.
