Over the years partnerships have been built between these agencies and the Alexandra Park Community Association has played a key role in developing these links. In March 2012 Stockport Council will make an application for funding to Sports England – Inspired Facilities to make improvements to Alexandra Park. The six proposals have been developed in discussion with park users and are supported by the Edgeley and Cheadle Heath Councillors. Full details.

History
This 3.78-hectare park is a formal Edwardian park close to the town centre of Stockport in the North West of England. Stockport Corporation purchased the park in 1908 from H. R. Sykes Esq., owner of a local bleaching works. A.H. Sykes Esq. donated a further £500.00. The park was officially opened on 15th April 1908. In 1990/91 the park was extended to include a reservoir (until then still privately owned by the bleachworks) which is now popular with anglers and wildlife.

The Woodstock Petanque Club plays every 2nd and 4th Sunday from April to October. New members and visitors welcome
Limited Mobility Access
- The car park, located off Hardcastle Road, has 3 disabled parking bays
- Most of the park can be accessed via fairly level tarmac paths.
- There are benches near the pond and a few around the park.
- There is a disabled toilet behind the bowls pavilion.
- Assistance dogs are welcome in the park.
- The 'Sensory Garden' has good wheelchair access with raised beds containing aromatic plant species
