In March 2009 Stockport Council secured £1.1 million to build new or refurbish 22 play spaces across the borough, over the next two years.
The Playbuilder funding, from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), has allowed the Council to deliver innovative and challenging new play facilities for children and young people incorporating more ‘risky play’ and natural elements into the schemes.
The project has been delivered through Stockport’s Play Partnership, including Stockport Council, Stockport Homes & NPS Group, and involved extensive consultations to find out local children and young people’s views.
