East Avenue Park

Friends Groups

Throughout Stockport the Council work in partnership with many community groups to help develop and improve Stockport's parks, woodlands, trails, lakes and wildlife areas.

There are many Friend's groups throughout the borough and across the region. Each group has its own emphasis but all strive to promote and improve their parks.

All types of volunteers are needed and valued and volunteer opportunities within Stockport’s greenspaces are varied. Group members use their life skills and knowledge to help improve their local greenspaces.

This includes activities such as leading or helping with nature walks, manning a stall at a fun day, completing funding applications, talking to neighbours about park aspirations, organising or attending planting days.

So if you can spare any amount of time and would like to join one of these groups new members are most welcome. See the Stockport Greenspace Forum for a list of parks with friends groups, and how to contact them.

Playbuilder

Playbuilder

In March 2009 Stockport Council secured £1.1 million to build new or refurbish 22 play spaces across the borough, over the next two years.
