  • by providing reading groups at various libraries
  • by providing packs with multiple copies of books which reading groups can use
  • by holding events which reading groups can attend
  • by providing supporting materials and expertise to reading groups

Currently there are around 20 adult groups meeting in Stockport Libraries, and approximately 60-70 groups held in the community.

Their interests include:

  • Contemporary Fiction
  • Crime
  • Science Fiction
  • Non-Fiction

We also have groups for teenagers and younger readers:

  • Young People: The groups are aimed at 13+ year olds. The emphasis is on reading for pleasure in a relaxed environment.
  • Chatterbooks: These fun reading group for 9+ year olds. There is lots of chat about all kinds of books as well as games, quizzes and refreshments. Take the opportunity to read, listen to or write a story.
