Culturefeast 2009 opened on Saturday 9th May with a fantastic dance extravaganza held in Merseyway, Stockport Town Centre.
The Dance Matters showcase began 11.45am and continued through to 5pm and gave the opportunity for local dance groups and individuals to show off their amazing talents.
During the month of May there were many workshops concentrating on Creative Writing, Poetry, and Photography as well as Performances including Kaite Boltain’s award winning dramatic movement piece ‘The Blood of Many’ through to Stockport Plaza ’s Touring Films.
Sunday 24th May brought us Stockport’s Got Talent in the Market Place which was a huge hit in the summer sunshine! Crowds cheered as more than 25 acts took to the stage ranging from magic acts, skateboarding and guitars to dance and singing performances.
Eleven year old Olivia Poole was crowned the Overall Winner on the day, with her fantastic rendition of Lulu’s Shout. Live Music followed and people enjoyed the remains of the sunshine, dancing until 7pm.
The final day of Culturefeast, Bank Holiday Monday 25th May. Once again crowds packed the Market Place as the sun shone and the stage was set for a variety of original music from local Stockport bands.
People grooved to music ranging from Rock to Samba and despite the clouds creeping, the DJ kept everyone toes tapping and anticipating the next song.
