There are many reasons for recycling – protecting the planet, preserving scarce resources and saving public expenditure.
When you place the wrong items in with your recycling, it means that a lot of your recycling efforts are wasted. As most of the rubbish you throw out is taken and buried in landfill sites, unless we all play a part in recycling more of our waste there will soon be no landfill left.
We’re asking you to help contribute by sorting recyclables from your waste correctly so that we can all benefit from a better environment. Throwing waste into landfill is much more expensive than recycling. So by doing your bit you will help reduce costs that could be passed on in Council Tax.
If you put any items in your wheelie bins that we do not collect from that bin, it will not be emptied and an advisory sticker will be left on the lid asking you to remove the item/s or resolve the problem. If you are unable to remove the items we can offer you a chargeable service to empty it
The reason we can’t empty the bin is that the whole load of the recycling vehicle of materials may be rejected at the recycling depot (Materials Recycling Facility) and end up in landfill, costing you the tax payer more money.
